‘PinPlay Says’ Game
This game is purely memory based. It is largely based on an old existing child’s game “Simon Says”, where the correct button needed to be pressed following a small electronic device, which upped the level each time with an extra point. Pin and Play come into this by allowing customisable versions of the simple and effective concept. It would increase the lifespan of the game by allowing multiple combinations, and fabric can hold a large number of components. Light and sound will still be the principle feedback.
PACT Analysis
People: This is aimed at any age, and would suit children, adults, and family interaction. As components can be added and removed, even a small child could play, whilst allowing added complexity for those who have mastered it.
Activities: It is a game based learning tool to test and potentially improve short term memory capacity. Its activities are similar to the original memory game, which essentially requires a sequence to be remembered replayed by a player. Not all present pins need to be interacted with, some may merely need a presence to increase difficulty. If a button is hit in the wrong order or incorrectly, the game is over.
Contexts: Any context were games can be played would be suitable. A family setting would work as well as multi-playing children, adults, or any combination. Very little skill would be required given how simple it can be made to run.
Technology: The technology behind this would be again fairly simple, with a local software chip being the most suitable processing unit. It is essential that LEDs, sounds or buzzers are used to indicate performance and give feedback, although this could be changed dependant on user preference. The software would need to register which components were present, generate a random sequence using these, and then check to see if they are replayed in the correct order.
